The weather on the Black Sea coast of the North Caucasus decided not to be capricious and, on the contrary, took on «increased obligations». Only for the second half of November, according to meteorologists «Rosa Khutor» Only in the altitude range from 1600 to 1800 m almost 360 mm of precipitation fell, read snow, which is almost twice the monthly norm.
A sufficient amount of snow allowed the resort’s technical services to bring snowcats onto the slopes. Thus, work has begun on the formation of a road surface for the movement of personnel. After the snowfall forecast for the end of the month, the thickness of the cover in the highlands of Rosa Khutor can grow up to 80 cm.
Meteorologists are already «Krasnaya Polyana» reported that the thickness of the snow cover was 10 cm higher than the annual average. We are talking about mountainous terrain at elevations above 2000 m. Precipitation expected in the last days of November may increase the height of the «cushion» several tens of centimeters at once.
Heavy November snowfalls will allow the ski season to open at least as scheduled. At the Rosa Khutor resort it is due to start on December 1st, ski slopes are scheduled to open on the 22nd. In «Krasnaya Polyana» planned date — 15th.
